A Finnish jazz night as part of jazzahead! Clubnight has been taking place since 2017, the year in which Finland was the partner country of jazzahead!. It has undergone some changes and has evolved, which the German-Finnish Society Bremen, whose cultural referent Janika Achenbach, who has supported the project from the beginning and has taken over since 2019, is very happy about.
A cultural special project close to her heart developed under Janika, which runs under the name Finnish Night and aims to bring more Finnish music to the beautiful Hanseatic city of Bremen.
This is still mainly limited to the Finnish Night at jazzahead! Club night, but other event formats are planned.
The Finnish Night tries to create connections and synergies between the musicians and aims to show how diverse, cooperative and colourful the Finnish music scene can be.
The History of the Finnish Night
Hi, I'm Janika
In my free time I take care of this site and that there is a place for Finnish culture in Bremen. I take care of the concerts that are in our cultural calendar and the Finnish Night. I've been on the board of the German-Finnish Society since 2017, where I'm the cultural referent and contact person for all sorts of special tasks.
Otherwise, I am currently working at jazzahead! in the office and I'm in the final stages of my master's degree in systematic musicology in Hamburg. I already have a bachelor's degree in musicology as well as in Finnish language and culture ;)
When I have time (or I just take it) I'm in Finland visiting friends and enjoying the beautiful country that makes really good music.
